Essential Poetry Skills

The study of poetry allows for a concentrated study of all that is important in English literature, and all that students have difficulty with. This course is designed to revise knowledge each student should already possess at his or her level, and then to build on this through a series of linked exercises that foster thinking, reading and writing skills together, providing a confidence in dealing with poetry in all aspects of the English syllabus.

Shakespearean Literature for Exam Success

The study of Shakespearean Literature is often challenging for high school students. This course is designed to consider a variety of Shakespearean texts to ensure students are comfortable in understanding Shakespeare, the Shakespearean context and to build confidence in skills for exam success.

Creative Writing & Genre Writing Workshop

An important component of the Junior English syllabus, and one of the more challenging aspects of the Senior High English curriculum concentrates on the students’ ability to respond on a personal and imaginative level to a variety of creative tasks. This course is devised to develop both thinking and writing skills to enable students to express themselves with confidence in their own ideas, and with sufficient depth of feeling as to appeal to a reader’s imagination. This course is therefore designed around a series of linked exercises encouraging the development of both imagination and style.

Future Writer’s Workshops

The Future Writers Workshop series is under the guidance of teachers who will motivate students and develop their skills to become successful future writers.
