Holiday Success Programs & Essential Exam Skills Program

Our course structure for each program:

Extend Your Problem Solving & Thinking Skills

The ability to think laterally is the pathway for success in high school. Students who are successful lateral thinkers and effective problem solvers have a definite advantage over their peers. This course provides the perfect opportunity to develop essential skills of success.

Course Goals

Among the outcomes:

  • Develop an arsenal of problem solving tools for application in various settings
  • Develop problem solving skills in relation to motion and time problems
  • Develop understandings of combinations and permutations
  • Develop understandings of cryptarithms and probability
  • Develop skills in solving matchstick puzzles
  • Develop understandings of venn diagrams and grids
  • Develop logical and lateral thinking skills
Creative Writing & Written Expression Workshop

A skilled and creative writer will excel in ICAS, Selective Schools, Scholarship and other school-based writing exams. Since writing skills take time to develop it is vital that students get an early start in order to maximise their skills and opportunities for high school exam success. Ensure your child possesses the vital writing skills and competencies in order to maximise their exam success. This course will also allow students the opportunity to consolidate skills prior to the transition to high school for Year 6 students. A highly recommended course.

Course Goals

  • Develop creative writing skills
  • Develop skills in writing effective topic sentences
  • Develop character analysis skills
  • Develop plot techniques
  • Develop knowledge of text types: formal letter writing, diary opinion, descriptions and news articles
  • Foster creativity and develop planning skills

Course Structure

  • Available as a Holiday Program for Years 5 and 6 students
  • 1 hour and 55 minute lessons daily for 5 days during the holiday program week. Please check our timetable for course running dates.

Extending Your Confidence in Public Speaking

Develop your confidence to be a better public speaker. Topics discussed include:

Prepare for Year 7 Science with Fun Experiments

Learn key science concepts and engage via fun practical experiments . Get a head start in your science preparation for high school. Topics discussed include:

  • Designing Experiments

  • Gravity
  • Group Activities to challenge and excite
Speed Reading & Memory Power Skills

Learn useful techniques to help you to read, comprehend and remember more efficiently. Topics discussed include:

Art & Craft Workshop

Inspire your budding artist with our engaging program of art and craft. Students engage in art and craft activities designed to bring out their creativity as they experiment with shape, colour and form. All materials included.
