Extend Your Problem Solving and Lateral Thinking Skills

The ability to think laterally is the pathway for success in high school. Students who are successful lateral thinkers and effective problem solvers have a definite advantage over their peers. This course provides the perfect opportunity to develop essential skills of success.

Course Goals

Among the outcomes:

  • Develop an arsenal of problem solving tools for application in various settings
  • Develop problem solving skills in relation to motion and time problems
  • Develop understandings of combinations and permutations
  • Develop understandings of cryptarithms and probability
  • Develop skills in solving matchstick puzzles
  • Develop understandings of venn diagrams and grids
  • Develop logical and lateral thinking skills
Creative Writing & Written Expression Workshop

A skilled and creative writer will excel in NAPLAN (Year 5), ICAS, Scholarship, SSEP and other school-based writing exams. Since writing skills take time to develop it is vital that students get an early start in order to maximise their skills and opportunities for high school exam success. Ensure your child possesses the vital writing skills and competencies in order to maximise their exam success. This course will also allow students the opportunity to consolidate skills prior to the transition to high school for Year 6 students and for Year 7 students for junior high school in Year 8. A highly recommended course.

  • Develop creative writing skills
  • Develop skills in writing effective topic sentences
  • Develop character analysis skills
  • Develop plot techniques
  • Develop knowledge of text types: formal letter writing, diary opinion, descriptions and news articles
  • Foster creativity and develop planning skills

Intensive English, Mathematics & General Ability + Mock Tests

A ‘MUST’ and proven success! In depth knowledge to excel in your exam. Highly recommended for INTENSIVE PREPARATION for Scholarship placement exams. mock tests, exam strategies, problem solving and time management techniques.
