Leaving a Legacy

Dr. Greg Smith was a beloved English teacher who dedicated 12 years to teaching and inspiring at North Shore Coaching College from 2007 to 2019. His former students will remember him as being a wonderful, engaging teacher who was driven by his passion for teaching and committed to bringing out the very best in all of his students. North Shore Coaching College is proud to announce the establishment of an annual writing competition and the Greg Smith Memorial Writing Prize as a way of honouring the memory of Dr. Greg Smith.

All North Shore students are highly encouraged to enter this competition as it is a great way to develop your writing skills and in doing so celebrate a remarkable teacher.

The competition is open to all current North Shore students in Queensland, and will be held in two divisions: a junior division for students in Years 5 and 6, and a senior division for students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10. Students will have 3 weeks to interpret and compose an original piece of writing in response to a chosen theme. Entries must be submitted via email to [email protected] by 11:59pm Sunday 28 August, 2022. Entries must be typed, double-spaced in 12pt font and submitted as an attachment in PDF format along with the official entry form.
