Core Program

Our Year 1 Fastrain program provides your child with an advanced and comprehensive exploration of numeracy and literacy. Skills and competencies across all aspects of language and mathematics are thoroughly investigated. The program covers concepts at a slightly more advanced level than your child will encounter at school.

  • Develop literal and inferential comprehensions skills
  • Develop writing skills across a range of text types
  • Develop spelling skills
  • Develop writing skills – structuring paragraphs
  • Develop vocabulary
  • Develop grammar and punctuation skills
  • Develop advanced knowledge of number up to three digits
  • Develop numerical operations and basic understandings of fractions
  • Develop basic general ability (thinking skills) concepts
  • Develop concepts of area, time and measurement using formal and informal units
  • Develop concepts of graphing, money, chance and probability
  • Develop concepts of shape, position and temperature
Course Structure
  • English and Maths
  • 4 terms in a year, 10 weeks in a term
  • 3 hour lessons per week, during term
  • Students attend lessons at their allocated time schedule
  • Small class group based
  • Experienced educators
