[NSW] Changes affecting Opportunity Test (OC) Placement Test

The Department of Education has announced changes to the test structure of the OC Placement Test – in particular, the number of questions and timing for each section of the OC Placement Test. This will affect students sitting the OC Placement Test on Wednesday 21 July 2021 (for entry in Year 5 in 2022 and beyond).

The following will be the new test structure to determine entry into NSW OC classes:

As a result of the new test format in 2021, the new placement test will be scored out of 100 (previously scored out of 200).

The importance of performing well in the OC Placement Test has increased. North Shore Coaching College provides various courses and programs to assist your child for academic preparation and success when sitting for examinations such as OC, Selective Schools and Scholarships – like our Exam Preparation Programs, Extra OC Trial Test and more. These courses and programs operate during both our Term and Holiday Program schedule. Please contact your local Campus Director here for more information and to enrol.

In addition, we host an annual mock examination experience called the Selective Written Assessment Test (SWAT), which is aimed at helping Primary school students in Years 3, 4 and 5 prepare for the OC Placement Test, Selective High School Placement Test and Scholarship exams. Registrations for the 2021 SWAT exam will be opening soon on our website www.swatexam.com.au . Please register your interest and we will contact you as soon as our registrations open for our 3 July 2021 SWAT exam event.
